רותם ניר, מעצבת מוצר שהיא גם בשלנית. יצירותיה הן תאווה לעיניים ולחך, מגרות את החושים ואת המחשבה.

היא גדלה במשפחה חמה וקרובה, ובביתה שולחן האוכל, המזון שהוגש עליו, עריכת השולחן ותהליך הכנת האוכל חשובים לא פחות מהמפגש המשפחתי. הבישול כשלעצמו מעולם לא היה מספיק עבורה. רותם חיפשה חוויה קולינרית כוללת.

בתום שירות צבאי פנתה ללימודי אדריכלות פנים.

כיוון שביקשה לשלב בין אהבותיה השונות החלה לחפש דרך להוציא את האוכל מהמטבח ולהביאו אל מעבדת העיצוב, ונרשמה ללימודי עיצוב תעשייתי ב"אקדמיה לאומנות ועיצוב בצלאל", בירושלים. במהלך לימודיה השכילה לשוב ולתעל את המשימות שניתנו לה לערוצים קולינריים ועיצבה פריטים כגון פותחן עוגיות oreo, כיכר לחם, צלחת לשניים ומנורה העשויה מכלי פורצלן. פסגת עשייתה בזמן לימודיה בבצלאל היתה עיצוב וביצוע של אירוע קונספטואלי ל-70 אורחים.

כיום מביאה רותם לידי ביטוי את כשרונה המקורי ורגישויותיה העיצוביות הייחודיות בעבודתה כסטייליסטית מזון. יצירותיה מתפרסמות תדיר במגזיני אוכל, אריזות וספרי מזון ונאכלות לעיתים קרובות על ידי עדת מעריציה. רותם ממשיכה לאתגר את גבולות הדיסציפלינה שלה.

Rotem Nir is both a product designer and a cook. Her creations open the eyes, water the mouth and tickle the brain.

Growing up in a close knit family, the round dining table, its setting, the food served and the process of making it was as important as the daily gathering itself.

For Rotem, cooking was never enough. She sought an all encompassing culinary experience.

After serving for 2 years in the Israeli Army, she studied Interior Architecture in Tel-Aviv.

Desiring to fuse her passions, she began looking for a way to bring food out of the kitchen and into the design lab - so she enrolled in the Industrial Design program of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem.

While there, she was able to cleverly channel the assignments given to her in culinary ways, designing objects such as an Oreo cookie opener, a loaf of bread, a plate for two and a lamp of porcelain dishes. The pinnacle of her time at Bezalel was designing and realizing a whole conceptual event for 70 guests.

Today, Rotem's unique talent and sensibilities are being fulfilled in her work as a food stylist. Her creations are frequently published in food magazines, books, commercial packaging and are eaten by her followers. She continues to challenge the limits of her discipline.
